I’ve had some success on my NBA parlay picks the last few weeks hitting on two of three wagers last week and going 4-2 in the previous six picks. Unfortunately I’ve been unable to string a three-team winner together and as you know every leg of a multi-team parlay has to win in order to get a payout. With the NBA regular season entering its final month we’re running out of time to cash that winning ticket. The NBA schedule for Wednesday, March 8 isn’t large with only seven games, but there are opportunities to make money on NBA parlays.
The schedule may be light but there are a number of teams battling for postseason positioning taking the hardwood with ESPN showcasing four clubs in a doubleheader. The acquisition of Kyrie Irving hasn’t delivered the results the Mavericks were looking for with the club dropping out of the top six in the West with losses in six of eight games. The Mavs look to crawl back up the standings with a win over New Orleans. The Clippers snapped a five-game skid beating Memphis on Sunday and tangle with Toronto in the nightcap.
Cleveland Cavaliers at Miami Heat
The Cavs are a great story sitting in fourth place in the East starting the week. They’re also within striking distance of third-place Philly. But they’ve struggled on the road this season and have a difficult matchup with last season’s top seed in the conference Miami. While things haven’t gone nearly as well for the Heat they are getting healthy and playing their signature brand of defense boasting the second-best scoring defense. The Heat dropped six of seven games before taking down Atlanta, 117-109, on Saturday. And Miami is looking to get into the top six to avoid the play-in tournament. Miami did something few teams have done when the clubs last met at the end of January. The Heat handed the Cavs a rare home loss, 100-97, and look to make it two in a row against a Cleveland squad that’s just 13-19 in away games. And the Cavs have a showdown with Boston on Monday night.
NBA Parlay Pick: Miami ML
Oklahoma City Thunder at Phoenix Suns
With Kevin Durant suiting up, the Suns have gone on a nice run to move up the West standings. KD debuted with his new club scoring 23 points in a win over Charlotte. He then dropped 20 on the Bulls and hit 12 of 17 shots in a 130-126 win at Dallas on Sunday. The Suns covered the spread in all three games and have a few days off before hosting OKC. To their credit he Thunder haven’t tanked and enter the week just a half game out of a play-in spot after knocking off Utah in consecutive games. Still, the Thunder are no match for Phoenix and I see the Suns continuing their surge with KD fitting in seamlessly with Devin Booker and Chris Paul. All three played a major role in the Dallas game with Booker adding 36 points and 10 assists and Paul having 11 points, seven assists and six boards. Just two weeks ago the Suns beat OKC 124-115 pushing the line without Durant. They should be able to cover the spread on Wednesday with the teams putting up plenty of points.
NBA Parlay Pick: Phoenix ATS / OVER
Toronto Raptors at Los Angeles Clippers
With all the changes the Clips made to their roster we expected a few hiccups. And we certainly got them with the club suffering through a five-game losing streak. They ended that slide with a big 135-129 win over Memphis on Sunday with Paul George and Kawhi Leonard leading the way. The pair combined for 76 points, Russell Westbrook had nine points and six rebounds and Mason Plumlee continues to impress off the bench with 15 points on 7 of 8 shooting. The Clips improved their offense dramatically with Eric Gordon joining the fray and they cashed the OVER in six of their last eight games. With the new faces getting acclimated to one another and Leonard and George playing at a high level, the Clips are a dangerous team and one that can do more damage from a top six seed. The race in the congested Western Conference will be exciting and the Clips should be right there, which is why I like them at home in this matchup.
NBA Parlay Pick: LA Clippers ATS
