With about a month left in the NBA regular season we’ll get games with plenty at stake as teams continue to jockey for position and a postseason berth. Both conferences are tight with a number of teams still in contention for at least a play-in spot while the top of the standings will also see some movement before all is said and done. That makes our NBA parlays more interesting and into the first week of March we did quite well on our picks.
Last Tuesday saw a pair of winning picks in our three games and we look to continue that run with another winning Tuesday. All bets need to win for a parlay payout and it’s harder to put together multiple winners on a single ticket so as a result sportsbooks offer attractive odds. It’s doable, though, and we’ll look at a few games on the Tuesday, March 7 slate to see where we can pocket some coin.
Memphis Grizzlies at Los Angeles Lakers
The Grizzlies just beat the Lakers 121-109 last week, but LA has an edge when the clubs meet again on Tuesday. Memphis is dealing with internal issues that could severely impact the outcome of this game and the remainder of their season. Leading scorer Ja Morant won’t suit up after the team announced he’ll be away from the team after a damning video surfaced. Morant will miss two games per the Griz and possibly more after the NBA concludes an investigation. Key reserve Brandon Clarke was also lost for the season with an Achilles injury. Morant is averaging 27.1 points with Clarke contributing 10.0 points on 65.6 percent shooting in only 20 minutes per game. The Lakers are currently on the outside looking in for a play-in spot and need wins after dropping two of three. They are also dealing with their own problems with LeBron James out with a sore foot and DeAngelo Russell nursing an ankle injury. Those are problems teams are used to dealing with and LA’s post deadline roster is better prepared to make a run.
NBA Parlay Pick: LA Lakers ATS
Washington Wizards at Detroit Pistons
Not a marquee matchup on the slate but one that has a winner in the Wizards. With Detroit playing out the string and also playing the second of a back to back, Washington is in a good spot to help its chances for a play-in spot. Winning six of nine games got the Wizards into the top-10. And the bottom line is that Detroit just isn’t that good with Saturday’s 114-90 setback to Cleveland their seventh straight and 10th in 11 games. The Pistons played that game minus four starters and the chances of Jalen Duren, Isaiah Stewart and Bojan Bogdanovich being back in the lineup on Tuesday is slim. And Cade Cunningham is done for the season. The Pistons have the second worst record in the NBA and lost the first meeting between the clubs, 120-99, earlier in the season. I’ll confidently back the visitors against the line on my parlay card.
NBA Parlay Pick: Detroit ATS
Brooklyn Nets at Houston Rockets
The Nets closed the week still among the top six in the Eastern Conference, but the chances of them staying there are slim. The cushion was built with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving part of the roster, but those players were traded away as the Nets tore down the foundation. They lost six of seven games before stunning Boston on Friday. And while wins have been hard to come by the points haven’t been. Unfortunately it’s the opponents doing most of the scoring. The Nets are still a better team than Houston, which ended an 11-game losing streak with a 122-110 win over San Antonio on Saturday. The Rockets have shown the ability to score the basketball in recent games and coupled with one of the worst defenses in the NBA there’s a real good chance this game goes OVER the total. I’m so confident that will happen that I’m backing the OVER on my weekend parlay card.
NBA Parlay Pick: OVER
