- Start time:Â New York Mets vs New York Yankees game will be held at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York at 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday, June 11th, 2019 and televised on ESPN.
The New York Yankees have not allowed several early-season injuries to adversely affect them, as they remain among the top teams in baseball. The Yankees are neck and neck with the Rays for the top spot in the American League East and will aim to keep things rolling in an interleague matchup against crosstown foe the New York Mets next time out.
The Mets do not have the same collection of talent as the Yankees but have done enough this season to hover around .500 and remain in both the National League East and wild card races. They are on the road in this one and a victory will be a lot to ask.
Mets at Yankees | MLB Betting Odds
The Mets have a record of 32-33 on the season. They have not been very successful on the road this season with a mark of 13-22. The Mets have gone 5-5 in their past 10 games and have a run-differential of negative-13 on the year, all signs pointing to a team which is just about average.
The Yankees are 40-24 on the year, which is tied with the Rays atop their division. The Yankees are an impressive 21-12 at home and will be favored to improve on that mark in this one. They have won only five of their past 10 games but the entire body of work this year has been impressive.

Pitchers Duel –Â Vargas vs Paxto
The Mets are scheduled to send Jason Vargas to the mound for this night game. He is 2-3 with a 3.57 ERA . He struggled early in the season, but since mid-April he has been excellent, as he has a 1.85 ERA in seven starts. He is coming off his eighth career shutout, as he beat the Giants last time out.
The Yankees are scheduled to counter with talented left-hander James Paxton. He is 3-2 on the season with a 3.11 ERA. Paxton is making his third start back since an injury and is still ramping up his workload, so he may not be able to go more than five or six innings. He has been effective since coming back, allowing only three runs and striking out 11 in 8.2 innings pitched.
Player To Watch – Pete Alonso
The Mets’ rookie first baseman, Pete Alonso, has been great this season. He is batting .258 with 21 home runs and 54 RBIs on the year. Alonso has an OPS of .934 and has quickly ascended to the most feared hitter in the lineup.
The Yankees are known for their thump, as they have several players up and down the lineup with the ability to hit the ball out of the yard consistently. The Mets don’t have as much power but if Alonso can connect on a pitch, especially if there are runners on base, he will help give his team a shot at the upset.
Mets at Yankees | MLB Betting Picks
Our staff picks:Â Yankees -1.5 -110
The Yankees are still missing Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge but they have not missed a beat without them. They are at home in this matchup and have a better starting pitcher on the mound. The Mets are not good enough to hang in this game as the Yankees should be able to grab an early lead and hold on for the victory.
