It’s conference championship week, which means some of the best college football teams in the country will be facing off with some hardware on the line. There are many ways to wager on these games but one of the best is on the moneyline.
There are some underdogs that would pay off rather nicely. It’s wise not to be foolish and take a team that doesn’t have much chance of winning, but there are certainly some favorites that look vulnerable. On the flip-side, taking a favorite on the moneyline keeps away the annoying backdoor covers after an outcome is already decided. It will cost more to choose a favorite on the moneyline but there is security in knowing the team will have to outright lose in order for the wager not to cash in.
Here are some of the top moneyline picks in Week 14 of the college football slate. Moneyline odds are provided by Bookmaker.eu.
Utah Utes (+178) vs Washington Huskies
The best underdog pick on the moneyline this week is the Utah Utes. They are 5-point underdogs against the Washington Huskies and thus are listed at +178 on the moneyline. Washington was expected to win the Pac-12 before the season began and certainly has the bigger names, but Utah is a tough team that won’t go down easily. The Huskies have been more inconsistent than expected this season and this will be another game that they fail to put away when given the chance. Look for Utah to play well in the second half and pick up the upset victory on the moneyline.
Central Florida Knights (-170) vs Memphis Tigers
The Central Florida Knights are undefeated yet again this season and back in the top-10 nationally. They face off against the talented Memphis Tigers in the conference championship game. These are clearly the two best teams in the American Athletic Conference and this could be an intriguing showdown. Stay away from the 3.5-point spread as it is tough to know if the favored Knights will cover that or if Memphis can hang within a field goal. UCF is the call on the moneyline as the odds of -170 are a good value.
Oklahoma Sooners (-310) vs Texas Longhorns
The Oklahoma Sooners lost to the Texas Longhorns in the regular season but the oddsmakers don’t foresee that happening again in the Big 12 Championship game. Texas is listed as the +252 underdog in this one. Should they be picked at that number to pull out another win? Nope. Oklahoma is the superior team and has all the motivation in the world as it aims to capture a spot in the College Football Playoff. Look for Sooners quarterback Kyler Murray to have a big game and lead his team to the victory. Oklahoma is -310 on the moneyline but that is still a worthy pick.
Ohio State Buckeyes (-615) vs Northwestern Wildcats
It’s never easy to choose a big favorite because the payout is not very impressive. However, when there is next to no chance the team loses, it is still worth it to add a small chunk of change to the bankroll. The Ohio State Buckeyes are that team this week. They are coming off a huge win over Michigan and will now face off against the outmanned Northwestern Wildcats in the Big Ten Championship game.
Northwestern is a nice little story but does not have nearly the talent to stay in the game against the Buckeyes. Ohio State is trying to make it to the College Football Playoff so there is no chance it takes the Wildcats lightly in this one. Ohio State is a big-time favorite at -615 so it’s not advisable to wager too much since a key injury can always change things, but health permitted, the Buckeyes should cruise to the win in this one.
There are some intriguing moneyline plays in Week 14 of the college football schedule, and Ohio State to win the conference title is the bets of the bunch.
