We’ve been hyping the list of UFC events for the über-stacked UFC 211, The People’s Card, for months now. From the title fights down to the prelims, it’s like the MMA gods decided to give us Christmas, our birthday, and a perfectly cooked steak dinner all on one night. Hands down, these are the best UFC fights of 2017.
As for fight gamblers? All we’ve had to go on for the past month was the heavyweight title fight between Stipe Miocic and Junior Dos Santos.
But oddsmakers weren’t gonna leave you hanging for too long. Just recently, the UFC odds at BookMaker.eu released opening money lines for every major fight on this card – and there are a ton.
Let’s take a look at what we’re working and mark a BUY or SELL for each set of UFC odds.
Junior Dos Santos (+150) vs Stipe Miocic (-175)
SELL: Miocic As a Big, BIG Favorite
No movement for the past few weeks here. Although Miocic opened at -200 back in February, he’s been chilling at -175 through all of March.
Dos Santos makes for a decent underdog play–and he’s got the boxing and sprawl to keep this fight in his wheelhouse–but we’d like to see him get closer to +200 before we make a move.
Joanna Jedrzejczyk (-155) vs Jessica Andrade (+135)
BUY: Jessica Andrade As A Bigger Underdog
J-Check is not going to have an easy night, and oddsmakers are fully aware of this, as she’s only a slight favorite right now. Still, she deserves it as she’s got some killer Muay Thai skills and endless gas tank. If Andrade’s line can go up to around +160, a small bet makes sense for bettors watching this female fight.
Demian Maia (-130) vs Jorge Masvidal (+110)
BUY: Demian Maia, Slight Favorite
Masvidal is underrated for sure, but Maia has dragged bigger game to the mat and anaconda’d them to death. Masvidal is a quicker, more agile sort of prey, but recently, Maia has looked unstoppable and is only a -130 favorite. That’s a fantastic value for the Brazilian.
Frankie Edgar (-165) vs Yair Rodriguez (+145)
SELL: Edgar In a Three-Round Fight
While Edgar is an excellent boxer-wrestler, he’s hittable and dealing with a totally unpredictable style of offense. Like usual, he’s facing a bigger guy he won’t be able to muscle around.
If this was a five-round main event, we’d have faith in him figuring it out, but in just three rounds, we’re just not sure he’ll have the time to overcome Yair’s style.
Eddie Alvarez (-125) vs Dustin Poirier (+105)
HOLD: Picking a Winner
This is probably the most evenly-matched pairing of the night, even though Alvarez comes in with the former champion credentials. He doesn’t really have the skillset to overwhelm Poirier, however, which is usually how “The Diamond” loses. You’ll probably want to bet the over/under for this matchup.
Henry Cejudo (-265) vs. Sergio Pettis (+225)
SELL: Sergio Pettis Stepping Up
The younger Pettis brother wants to enter the title mix, but he’s got a long way to go. Especially against a former Olympic wrestler whose only losses have come against a current champion and No. 1 contender. Given that Cejudo is improving as rapidly as Pettis is, there is a talent gap that Pettis probably won’t be able to overcome.
