The Toronto Raptors made easy work of the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference semifinals matchup. Philly will aim to come out stronger next time out or it will face a big hole early on.
The Raptors are the higher seed and get this one at home, which will make them the favorites. However, these teams are pretty close in talent level and an upset win by the 76ers is not out of the realm of possibility.
Any of the four teams remaining in the East could conceivably make the NBA Finals, and Toronto would love to take control of this series with a Game 2 victory.
76ers vs Raptors | Game 2 Odds
The Raptors have been listed as the 6.5-point favorite to win Game 2. Toronto’s moneyline odds are coming in at -255, while the 76ers are the +211 underdog. The scoring total is listed at 220.5 points.
Toronto easily covered the spread in Game 1 and the “under” was the right pick, which was a common sight in many of the conference semifinal games over the weekend. More of the early money is coming in on the 76ers as the underdogs.
76ers vs Raptors | Last Time Out
The Raptors scored 39 points in the first quarter to grab an eight-point lead and continued piling on the rest of the way. Toronto cruised to the 108-95 win to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
The Raptors shot 51.9 percent from the field and their defense was impressive, as the 76ers shot just 39 percent from the floor. Ben Simmon had 14 points, nine rebounds and a pair of steals for Philadelphia while shooting 7-of-8 from the field, but did not get much help.
The Raptors didn’t have very much scoring balance as Kawhi Leonard and Pascal Siakam were the only ones in double figures, but they combined for 74 points and dominated Philly throughout.
76ers vs Raptors | Injury Report
Leonard scored 45 points on his own, as he put together a great performance. He shot 16-of-23 from the field and hauled down 11 rebounds.
Leonard’s presence is a big reason why many people believe the Raptors can take the next step and be a true title contender this season. Toronto has won five straight games and is certainly looking like a serious threat to come out of the Eastern Conference.
The 76ers have some good individual defenders, led by Jimmy Butler, but they clearly need a new plan against Leonard because he carved them up in Game 1.
76ers vs Raptors | Game 2 Picks
Our staff pick: 76ers +6.5 and the UNDER 220
The Raptors have been the better team this year, but not by the margin that was shown in the first game. Look for the 76ers to shoot more efficiently from the floor and make this a much more competitive showdown.
Philadelphia has enough individual talent that it is the easy pick to cover the spread in Game 2. For those who want better odds, the 76ers are a worthy choice to pull off the upset on the moneyline. The “under” is once again the pick as the defense is gearing up in the playoffs.
